Hi new researcher, my name is Andy and I am an ACE here on h2g2. This stands for Assistant Community Editor - it's our job to welcome new researchers to the site and make them feel at home. There are loads of ACEs and we're all helpful and friendly. Click here to find out more :Aces A214796

You can update your Personal Space at any time by clicking 'Edit Page'. For tips on spicing up your user page, click here A690518. If you want to see what other people have written on theirs, click their name at the top of a conversation posting.

A really quick way to jazz up your user page or conversations is with the many smileyssmiley - batsmiley - roflsmiley - laughsmiley - cheerssmiley - smileyTo see the whole list and how to use them, click here: A155909

If you haven't done so already, you could check out the Welcome page A53146 or catch a and take the Don’t Panic-Tour A317459 . By the way, if you're confused about any of the words or terms used around the site, try looking them up in the h2g2 Glossary A901829.

There are three main things you can do on h2g2 - you can read what others have written, you can talk A451522 to the rest of the community, or you can write your own entries for others to read A462485 : Writing-Beginners A686595 If you want something to read you could try h2g2's own weekly newspaper The Post U54963 which is full of cool articles, stories and cartoons. Or if you feel really daring, you could try a Random Edited Entry A147007 Who knows what you'll end up with!

Well hopefully that should be enough to get you started. If you have any questions or just want to chat, click reply and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Or go to the Ace's homepage using the link above and ask there! Someone will be more than happy to help!

Thank you for your kind welcome letter.

My home in New Hampshire in the USA. You can watch spring unfolding outside my window with robins on my lawn and maple buds. I've written articles for Wikipedia but I like the more playful, informal style encourages by H2G2.

One concern I have is with the requirement for British spelling. My writing style is American and the British spelling may look out of place. For example, we still use the subjunctive. Either style is fine but I'm not sure about the hybrid. I don't want to seem like one of those Americans who irritates everyone by faking a British accent. What suggestions do you have?

Again, thank you for taking the time to send me useful information.

CayteLin
