You're kidding...where did u live? I don't mean the street, but approximate area? I'm all excited now...
RJ's - "The Best Thursday Night in the North West" isn't it? According to City FM.... aha ha ha...
I live in Canterbury now though...I do miss the old place. Expecially Rock Night on a Wednesday at the Vic...ahh, those were the days....

On the same side as the Nelson and diagonally opposite the Grove House
and I am in Oxford now, still go home occasionally as my parents still live there... I miss the sea, the smell of the salt. When I go home, I walk on the dunes and along the prom and breathe in the salt air.

I know what you mean. I miss the sound of the sea - I live right down by the front, and when I wake up every morning I can go up to my attic and see Liverpool, and the Mersey in all its glory. You don't notice the quiet background of sound until it's gone.
I've gotten all homesick now
Near Hamilton Park then We go to the Nelson now and again. Nice pub. They've got a "Who want's to be a Millionaire?" game now, which lost me about £20 last time I was back home, I think. It just looks so easy!

Harrison Park, don't you mean? (I was in St Nick's Guides at Harrison Hall) and just down the road from Flynn's Piece and further up, near the dentist is the Captain's Pit - great for tadpoling.
I miss just knowing that the sea is there. I don't need so much to visit it, but to know it is there, to be visited if I so desire.

Possum Posted May 30, 2000
Yeah, Harrison Park - why did I say Hamilton? I've got no idea. Probably thinking of Hamilton Square
Flynn's Piece - I always remember that place. We always used to try to play football on there because there was a sign saying "No Ball Games". But this old guy used to come and chase us away so we'd play in Harrison Park instead.
Ahh, memories. Vale Park is better though, of course.
I know exactly what you mean about the sea. I wouldn't go down to the prom every day or anything, but knowing the river is there is just reassuring, I think. Everything else will change, but the river and the sea are always there.
So what school did you go to?
(Sorry, but you've got me all bleary-eyed and nostalgic now )

I went to St George's Primary and then I went to Birkenhead High for Girls cos I passed the exam and my family took no holidays so that we could afford it. It was much better for me than Weatherhead would have been (my sister went to Weatherhead) and I am certainly using my education (PhD student now).
I loved the Flynn's Piece sign "No ball games under 10 years" - it could be misinterpreted to mean "ball games must have a minimum duration of 10 years"
Probably thinking of Hamilton Square... I loved taking the train or ferry over to Liverpool. Ferry was a special treat.

Oooh - Birkenhead High - a posh, clever girl, eh?
Just kidding...
What's your PhD in, then?
Flynn's Piece...lol...I'd forgotten about that.... What made me laugh was the picture of a golfer on the sign...I always used to think "What, Golf? Who the heck would want to play golf on Flynn's Piece?"
sdkghlskgvnslekrhn
AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Jun 1, 2000
Yes, indeed a posh clever girl!
(how is one supposed to answer that type of question!? [rhet])
Atmospheric Physics, climatological modelling research.
I don't remember the golfer picture.... though at the manor (just up the road on the other side) was a golf course... the manor golf course, we always used to walk across that for some reason or other.
no room to play golf on Flynn's Piece.
I remember that the railings at the top corner of the Piece were bent to get a kid through - we'd squeeze through and cut out the corner of the Piece on our way home.

Atmospheric Physics, climatological modelling research...mmm, yes, I see.....................................................
I can't believe that a member of Birkenhead High School for Girl's would even consider squeezing through railings like a commoner

AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Jun 1, 2000
ah, but in those days I was at St George's Primary school
sdkghlskgvnslekrhn
AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Jun 1, 2000
good
now what's with the "mmm I see" re my chosen research career?
sdkghlskgvnslekrhn
Possum Posted Jun 1, 2000
Re: your chosen career...
I have no clue what on earth it all means. I'm stupid like that. I'm a humanities student, so even mention the word "physics" and I tend to switch off

AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Jun 1, 2000
does "I look at fluffy clouds all day" help?
[literally]
sdkghlskgvnslekrhn
Possum Posted Jun 1, 2000
Wow, really? Maybe I should think about changing my career...
