OK own up......who's laughed out loud on a bus/train/plane when reading a discworld book? I have and have sat next to people who have done the same.

Thank god for Terry Pratchett!

It happens to me all the time! From time to time, someone will look at what I'm reading, and say 'Oh, isn't Terry Pratchett great?!'. Of course, what usually happens is the person sitting next to me gives me an odd look and quickly moves to another seat... smiley - laugh

When I saw the title for this thread and thought "these terms are generally synonomous". That should tell you far too much about my vocubulary. Pratchett's by far my fave author and I haven't laughed out loud at the books on plane, train or bus but I have in a car and several times at school. Brilliant the DW books are, but of course you all alreday knew that.

Have you tried travel bands for the sickness.
You need to do something, to have to go through life NOT reading on the bus, train, plane. That's awful!

My mum's got some of those, the first time I tried one on I wore it like a watch with the lump on the outside on top fo my wrist. I *did* feel less ill though...
A placebo effect there I think.

I just reread Pyramids,I didn't like it at first, but I read early.I couldn't keep myself from laughing now that I've got Terrys wit. Sometimes he's alot better the more times you read.

Yeah. Then again, his work's still *brilliant* whenever. Of course with rereading you often get more of the jokes and if you've read other Discworld books in between some more of the characters' origions. If you've read the Watch books and Moving Pictures then you'll know what I mean quite accutely.

Half the fun is in the developement. 2/3 of the fun is in the whole twisted logic thing. Ande the way he grabs onrdinary concepts, and gives them a 90 degree twist.

More of a Moebius twist, I would have thought...
