4th Blue Shift (My band)
And don't go letting no Meirion Townsend tell you any different....
Anyway, yes, we were that good, you admitted it yourself on the night baz, and you only really knew i messed the 1st one up coz i told you, and coz your such a good (la de DA!) trumpeter, and can notice these things.....
Anyway, thanks for the ancouragement baz....
Anonymouse: yes, it was Squeezebox we supported, but you won't have heard of them.. i don't think, their a good local band.
BTW, we played another gig today, but it wasn't as good
And Squeezebox liked us so much they want us to tour France with them in 2 weeks... unfortunetley for me, school won't be too pleased, and i ain't got no money to go....

Erm.. I've heard of Squeezebox, but surely not the same one.. This one is also a local band... but not from your locale.
Mama's Got a squeezebox, Daddy never sleeps at night!
(Sorry... -somebody- had to do it. )
Re: France...
MM, there's a decision to be made here. Either you want to get a band going somewhere or you want to continue to be a pub band. I know a band here (or rather, used to)... in fact, my ex used to be a roadie for them. Full Moon. They were -very- good (metal/alternative). They were always complaining that they just didn't seem to be going somewhere. Unfortunately, they all also had good day jobs (except one, who mostly took menial work because he wanted to be a rock-n-roll star at age 40 ) and families.
Because they were good, and because they -said- the wanted to move past what we call Bar Band stage, my father (who always seems to come up with the right connections for the situation and -I- don't know where the h*ll he comes up with them ) got in touch with an agent... passed on a demo cassette (homemade) set them up with a meeting. The agent agreed they were good. He offered them free studio time, radio play, new songs and wanted to set them on a tour. Only the one wanted to go. The rest refused to take the time off work even to do the demo. They just didn't want to take the risk.
They've since broken up. Now they whine about their day jobs... the one who was willing to take the risk got so discouraged that he sold all his instruments and equipment.
This is an opportunity, no matter how menial it may seem. Opportunity rarely knocks twice. The exposure could help you "pay your dues." Either you -find- the money, take a sabbatical from school and go for it, or you content yourself with always being the 4th best, then the fifth, and so on until, "Oh yeah... Blue Shift... Didn't they used be good?"

To be honest there, i can do nothing but agree with you. But sometmes, all the will and want in the world cannot just make things happen. Sure, the France trip would be great for publicity, but the band is still in the early stages as yet, and it i'm not the only one who would find it very difficult to leave. It's no use just going with a bassist and a guitarist, is there?
It's definatley not something to be taken lightly.....

What happened now?
I still say you should light a fire under the crew's collective butt... Tell them either they make a committment to the band or move on (either them or you, depending on the outcome).

happened? oh... just teenage angst.... nothing i can't sort out with a few hours of letting aggression out on my guitar.....
Anyway... I would move on... if i had a band to move on to.....

You -create- one, silly... Carefully.
Pick and choose... those who have both talent and ambition to match your own.

Place an ad. Though you'll have to dredge through those who only think they have talent or only want the fame and not the work, etc.

Well... i don't like the idea of having to work with people i've never met before.... i'm quite a shy person.... and not very good in social conditions....

Ah... but then you've either forgotten or have yet to discover the power of music to take the 'strange' out of 'strangers'
