Kemarie

Nothing for nothing, I've never been much into politics, but having been immersed into the bloodstream of corporate america for about a year and a half now, I've got to say that something is very wrong! My commute takes me through blocks of burned out row houses and graffitti covered buildings, yet I arrive at work amid thousands of dollars worth of marble and glass. And just the general overtone of the staff here is one of outrageous disrespect between the peons (like me) and the higher ups. With that in mind, I imagine that they don't even notice the burned out row homes. And it's not just here, it's everywhere. So, would I give up my comfortable house and security for the average man on the street? Probably not, but if I had the money that some of these fat cats around here have to shell out on golf trips and carribean cruises, I think I'd try and make more of a difference!

i was just randomly reading this but i had to reply to that post about the USSR being socialist, because it is UTTER BULLS**T.

russia had a genuine revolution in 1917, it was a bit socialist until the capitalist powers attacked it and screwed everything up as usual. they ade the situation so desperate the bolsheviks had to become almost as bad as the capitalists (grain requisitions etc) in order to defeat them. then stalin took over and really f**ked everything up.

but i'm not going to be one of those boring trotskyists who go on about what lenin said in 1919 as if anyone cares, but i just had to point out that you, gardener of silly thoughts, ave a lot of silly thoughts and one of them was the one that posessed you to write that post.

the USSR was *not* socialist- how can a place be socialist when the workers don't control sh*t and have crap living conditions and the bosses drive around in limousines and live in palaces? that's not socialism, that's, well, state capitalism but i'm not going into all *that*. of course they *said* they were socialist, they weren't going to say to everyone 'actually we've sold out everything you fought so hard for so we can enrich our own arses and build big bombs'. george dubya bush *says* he's all in favour of democracy... do *you* believe him?

socialsm means the working class (that means, people who do work, ie almost everybody) being in control, and stuff being organised to meet human need not the need of some rich c**t (sorry is that too rude for the bbc?) with seven houses and his own golf course. revolution is what happens when a bunch of people get together and tell the bosses to go f**k themselve cos we're going to change the world. and it's going to happen and when it does it'll be f**king fantastic. and you can call me a mad trotskyist all you like cos i don't give a s**t.
in fact i am a mad trotskiyst, and proud of it, as anyone looking at the world today with their eyes open should be mad as hell, in the american sense of being really p*ssed off.

anyway thats enought of me ranting.

Capitalism does have its faults externalities are produced resulting in the degregation of our environment and there is great inequality both economically and socially as a result of the laissez faire policy of free markets. However one question please. Which countries socio-economically and culturally are the most influencial? - Yes 98% endorse a capitalist system , furthermore endorsed by the IMF, WTO, UN and WB. What former 'great' power disintergrated and broke up in 1991, which endorsed a socialist government? - The USSR. Perhaps that is sufficient evidence to prove that capitalism is FAR superior to socialism - my hint - look at an atlas and count the countries that endorse capitalism - opposed to that of socialism!

Socialism is a great idea and should not be rule out by anybodies mind. It may not works at this moment in time, but I think it is the way of future. If the world is all capitalism, then what about the poor people? Is that what we want? The bible has said that you must look after your neighbour as you have look after your brothers and sisters. Before the investion of money, people live in communities and help each others out by specialising their best skills. There are no rich man in a tribe but they all live together, eat together. You may think we are in 21st Centuries and stop thinking backward. But only this way people can live happily together.
Basically, Capitialism is a slave for Money!
