The banana slug is also the unofficial mascot of UC Santa Cruz in Northern Ca., so I guess these cuddly little creatures are not particular to Oregon...and I know this is true because I spent a lot of time at UCSC - and even have the college sweatshirt (featuring said Banana Slug) to prove it.

I have three banana slugs as pets. They are not cuddly but taste lovely.

"Taste lovely" ?! Okay, that's just yucky. Of course, I suppose I +should+ be more objective, as I have never actually tried one myself... Perhaps tomorrow I shall search one out in the woods of my backyard and... no. I don't think I could stomach that
