Yes that hurricane sounds like a real problem hope you and yours are well out of the way

it's easily a thousand miles away from me. We expect to get an inch of rain from it next Wednesday.

Things are so exciting! My father misplaced his checkbook yesterday. Today I upset a fellow gardener by suggesting that we not deadhead [remove spent blossoms from] our flowers. I had shrimp egg foo yung for lunch.

There was never even a small chance that my father would suffer from not finding the checks. He has others that he could use. I took him to the bank and a nice lunch place today. Everything is fine.

So then my father managed to misplace the money that he got out of the bank. He kept leaving messages on my phone telling me to look in my car for an envelope with money in it. I called him this afternoon and my sister answered the phone. She had just found the money: Dad had rolled it up and stuck it in the middle of roll of masking tape.

I'll bet he was happy with the money being found.

How are things in your garden?

It was a sad day for my garden, but also a hopeful one.

One of my coneflowers has been diseased for five or six years. The leaves are crinkly, and the blossoms have distorted petals. I figured as long as the plant was okay other wise, and the disease didn't spread to other plants (it didn't) I might as well leave well enough alone. But I've been reading about Aster Yellows and various other plant diseases. I decided that the plant had to go. I ordered another coneflower plant, which came in today's mail. I dug up the sick one and replaced it with the new one. The disease dies with the diseased plant. Unless the new one catches it from other plants, it should be okay.
