A Conversation for Yellow Submarine

I recommend Everything, but the Yellow Submarine soundtrack has a very good selection on it. Otherwise, the Red and Blue albums play all the popular hits.

If you're going for an album, well, actually, you can pretty much judge a Beatles album by it's cover, really... bright covers usually equal bright music, darker colors on the covers usually mean more melancholy music... The major exception would be "Meet the Beatles" which is pretty up beat, and then, what is there to say about the "White Album"

I assume you mean "With The Beatles"?
But I guess you have a point there... Hmmm....
Anyway, I've written a Magical Mystery Tour article - would you be kind enough to look at it? You can follow th elink from the Yello Submarine article above.

I'm not sure that Hey bulldog was on the original Australian version of Yellow submarine. I read an article when it was re-released recently and one of the reasons given for buying it was that hey bulldog was on this version ?????
One of my favorite songs BTW

Yes, With the Beatles, I'm sorry, I've got a shirt with that cover on the front and the phrase "Meet the Beatles!" on the back, and my memory got confused
I'm going to go check out the MMT article now

Thanks - I'll gradually adapt it - I've got the basics on. As it takes up to 20 weeks between submission and approval, I've time to completely alter it.
And we were both right - in America "With the Beatles" was originally released as "Meet The Beatles" and was labelled as the Beatle's first album on the sleave - does that mean they hadn't released Please Please Me in the US? I only found that out yesterday - so thanks IW - you learn something new everyday! Told you I didn't know everything - but it never occured to me that they'd have different names!

I'm afraid I don't know about the Australian version of the album - I had assumed that it would be the same?
Any further information about this would be appreciated... Hmmm...

Well, whichever, the CD in my computer when I wrote that was titled "with the beatles" (no caps), so maybe when they released the CDs they just picked whichever was more popular? I don't know. All my Beatles material is on CD, though my mother has a copy of the White Album on vinyl. Just think: if I play the "Magical Mystery Tour" album for my kids when I have them, "Your Mother Would Know" will actually be a song that was a hit before their mother was born!

Indeed it would
Taxman would probably still be right up to date, though!
(ignoring the Mr Wilson/Mr Heath references...)

Probably more relevant than ever, if you ask me
I'll try and find out about the Australian version for you. One of my friends should be able to help us out.

So far, I've found out this. Okay, it's about America, but perhaps Australia saw the American version? (It's also about the film not soundtrack - but I'm working on it...)
Recording "Hey Bulldog". This song is given over for the "Yellow Submarine" animated film project, in place of the uncompleted "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)". The song will appear in British prints of the film, but not so in the US. Beatlephiles in the US will not see the "Hey Bulldog" film sequence.

Well Hey Bulldog the animated sequence is on my Canadian copy -- so us Beatleophiles could always order it from one of our online stores.
Great article -- has anyone ever watched YS in various states of altered consciousness?
I thinnk we should compile a list of experiences --
On Really Good Pot --
The London scene in the beginning is amazing -- as is anything with strobe effect as George's Karma chamber and later on the flashing green cube (mmmm.... flashing green cube) -- that whole Sea Of Science sequence is very trippy -- and Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds (of course).
I think I tried to watch it on Mushrooms once -- but I was to full of energy sit and watch a movie.
Does anyone more daring than me have some YSM -- LSD stories?
Also -- to go back to the revalation that somethings have different names in different parts of the world -- I remember when I was younger and in London and saw adds for Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
(when it is [actually] Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in North America).

I remember that Turtle thing - but it changed when the movie first arrived, and they decided to call it "Ninja" ever after..
I must admit I've not had any altered consciousness experiences with Yellow Submarine though.

...yes. I'm afraid I've never been high, drunk, or anything particularly interesting while watching YS, so I'll have to live vicariously.
