Hello,

Please can anyone offer any insights as to what the Latin translation might be for:

Live the Dream.

Regards

Stuart

This doesn't help you (the poster) at all, but I didn't want to cluttered the main page with another translation request. So, whoever helps the first guy, help me, too please. I want to put this as the family motto below our CoA:

"I could eat"

It's our traditional non sequitor to the question "are you HUNGRY?" Desire to eat and hunger are orthagonal.

Thanks!

I don't have a translation for anyone but I do need one. So if there's anyone out there who can help me, I need a translation for: We came, We saw, We mapped.

Thanks

"Vive somnium" = live the dream
(But this is dubious Latin because the verb "vivere"(= to live) generally does not take a direct object, such as dream. Also "somnium"(=dream) does not have the aspirational connotations of the English word; rather it means an idle fancy (as well as the sleeping kind of dream of course.) I wouldn't use this. I would find another way to express the same idea before translating it.)

The next one is a piece of cake,

"Cenare possim" = I could eat.

And finally,

"Venimus, vidimus, descripsimus" = We came, We saw, We mapped
(or "Venimus, vidimus, designavimus")

(The poverty of the Latin language is apparent here. "Describere" just means to represent in pictures or writing, and isn't particularly to do with maps. "Designare" is similar. But these are the only two words my dictionary recommends for "to map out", so there you go.)

sorry, we seem to be a full room already, but could you explain why you used the subjunctive in 'possim'?
