Australia has a large Lebanese population. I have heard that someone heard from a "Lebbo" that in Arabic, dude means "camel penis"
Perhaps this is an urban myth. Can anyone confirm?

I have also heard this explanation for the word 'dude', and also that 'dork' refers to a whale's penis, though I'm not sure in what language.
