Of course I knew this one! We actually have a 'guess the feather' competition at every meeting of our bird club. To guess the feather, you have to pay a small amount of money, and then at the end, our chairman looks at who got it right. Often there are more than one right answer, in which case a winner is selected by (usually the guest for the evening) drawing numbered slips from a basket. And the winner wins - a chocolate bar! Anyways this is to get in a bit of funds for some of our basic expenses.

What a great idea, Willem! 
Especially where bird experts congregate.
The kitties have been harassing birdies over at the Hoggett farm. This causes them to drop feathers while escaping (this particular bird is too big for the small cats), which are collected by Mrs Hoggett - and offered to those of us who want a feather for our hatbands.
