Stay away from the edge! The edge is no place to play! (from the 'Wind and the Lion')

Another misconception is about the burning of Atlantis.

I like misconceptions, there all the rage in my house. Like the one about me doing the washing up and doing the laundry also cleaning the bath after a bath

I actually do get those things done, but don't hold your breath waiting.
My cue for picking things up off the floor is when the clutter gets deep enough that I have trouble getting around.

And I never have quite gotten around to getting rid of those spiderwebs high in the corners of my bathroom. I figure that they've done no harm since 1979, so why worry about them?

I have quite an impressive cobweb going in one corner of one of the massive plate glass windows in my office. I'm waiting to see if one of the cleaners ever notices it but so far it's been there for at least 2 years

Many years ago I visited the Cobweb Inn, Boscastle, Cornwall. They had ancient webs in the bar which they never cleaned (they told me at the time they hadn't been swept for hundreds of years, but I'm not so sure they're quite that old). The history on this page suggests they have been there since 1947 at least. They were left to encourage spiders to catch the flies.
