Hey, lil! No problem, thanks for dropping by on PR.
Yeah, Mags, I noticed. I hope you didn't mind. Great minds think alike, I suppose.

It is. Amazing how terrified that can make some people.
What was it Douglas Adams said about what happens when humans stop talking?

It just struck me how much your description of the Quaker meeting describes my commute to work. I haven't changed many words in the following:
* * *
It's Monday morning, or, as the workers call it, First Day of the Week. You join the others at the station. It's simple, unadorned. You go sit quietly on one of the trains. People don't smile at each other, and nobody says a blessed word.
And it stays that way for nearly an hour. Until the train arrives at Waterloo. Then you all go outside and walk to the tube...

The only difference is that an officious little man in an ex-Stasi uniform demands I spend vast sums of money on a ticket.

How true.
Back in 1975, I was utterly amazed at the cheapness of the Underground.
I could get places for 5p. I couldn't believe it!
The weirdest journey I took was between Knesington and Elephant and Castle. As I remember it, it was an epic journey, involving about four lines, and a lot of subterranean level changing. But the price was surprisingly low.

It may be true that commuting is a spiritual experience for many of those Monday morning commuters. I can guarantee it that a lot of those people sitting there in silence with their eyes closed are inwardly saying "Oh God..."

The only thing I can reveal about my religion is that nobody is allowed to talk about it
(Sounds like I could have been a quaker - were it not for the oats )
