Just got an e-mail inviting me to a job interview in Germany.

It would be a really cool job and great experience. And my current job is annoying me muchly.

But I'm just starting to build up a life here and have several cool projects on the go, including a new medieval band that just had its first gig this weekend.

Panic time!

On the basis that nobody ever applies for a job they aren't interested in, I'll just say good luck!

And , of course!

Ah, the old comfort zone dilemma, eh?

Go for the interview. You dont need to make a decision until it's a firm job offer.

Yeah - at least have a look at it. And there are probably some threads in the old BRD that you could pick up again if you did come back.

I think I'm with KB: if you applied for the job in the first place, you must be interested in it. It would be a pity to lose you, but I suppose it would give me an excuse for visiting Germany.

There's already Eisbein, Sauerkraut, Bier, Schnapps, Rammstein...

I don't know though - I'm also totally familiar with the dilemma of applying for a job that entails moving, and being in a complete quandary about what to do...

But yep, on balance, it's better to be offered it. Plus often an interview helps you make up your mind about whether you'd like the job anyway!

There's also hard-boiling potatoes, Italian ice cream, molehills, one-lane traffic circles, fresh rye bread, and rural dirt roads that everyone may use...

Pah. What fun is using rural dirt roads if there's not even a maniac farmer with a shotgun to chase you off them?

Yep, go for the interview so you can see if it is enough to draw you over there

I see three possibilities:

The interview reveals a dead end job which you refuse. Case closed

The interview reveals a fantastic opportunity which you grab with both hands (in spite of your sore shoulder). Case closed

The interview leaves you doubtful which is why you refuse it. Case closed.

On second - no wait: fourth - thought: It is better to regret something you did than something you didn't
