The longest I and or my wife have waited in a line was 38 hours in order to get Star Wars Episode I tickets for the midnight May 19th showing. Then on May 19th we waited another 6 hours at the front of the line to get good seats.

Luckily we enjoyed the movie. Although I think the line was a little more fun and peopleactive.

You liked the line more than the film????!????

I certainly did and there wasn't a queue. I went to a matinee on discount day and read a good book until the film started. Had I known what the film was like I'd likely have continued reading...although that makes for an expensive book.

Oh, the film was wonderful, almost as good as Empire Strikes Back, and we went to see it 2 more times. BUT we made so many wonderful friends in the line, it was like a 38 hour party, with a 6 hour reunion party the next week. When weighing friends and movies friends come out on top, even in line.

I think I must've seen a different film. Empire was certainly the best of the three, and that's largely because a professinal sf writer wrote most of it before dying: Leigh Brackett.

Hi there. I waited in line for that movie too...not quite 38 hours, as I did have to work...
And you know what? The projection screwed up! Right as we were about to see Yoda for
the first time, blackness, and then the house lights. I died.
Anyway, I'm a bit of a SW nut, and I just wanted to point out that Leigh Brackett, although she
is credited with working on Empire (its dedicated to her memory too), very little of her script,
if any, was actually used. The credit really belongs with Lawrence Kasdan, fresh from doing
Raiders of Lost Ark. Leigh died just one month after completing her draft of Empire, so she probably never knew that Lucas really didn't care for it at all. And I believe she made her mark
writing Film Noire, not SF. There was a big article about her in the last SW Insiders Guide, in
case you're wondering how I'm such a smartypants.
