In Libya, a group have desecrated war grave headstones, by trashing over 200 headstones.

There are a number of factors to consider.

!) The desecration of the graveyard.

2) The desecration of the headstones and memorial.

3) The perpetrators.

4) The reason.

So what is your response? Libya claims it will catch the perpetrators. But which is the worst scenario, and how long do the memorials to 1914 be maintained?

Think of all the events in the last 1,000 years.Many spawned lotteries, donations and financial support, yet they rare remembered bus on Wiki, and hopefully , H2G2.

It's wrong, but there's no point getting upset over the actions of idiots.

I was wondering the other day if it might not be cost effective to repatriate the remains of our fallen in foreign fields back to the UK.
Not ALL countries to start with of course, just the places that don't respect our dead. Pakistan, Iraq, Libya as a starting point?
Or do we just wait until all living relatives are gone, and quietly forget all about it?

That's a good post swl. You can add to that the US flag burning issues (although they are not so bothered when furriners do it, to be fair).

On the later post, I'm not even sure there would be enough room in UK cemeteries...

'Barbarians behave barbarically' is not news.

Surely the correct British response is a restrained tut under the breath, a disapproving shake of the head, and absolutely no hesitation whatsoever to bomb their country again if they look like interfering with the oil supply. That's how we roll, right?
