Today, my Friends list suddenly decreased by three after I used a rude word (a VERY rude, Sandi Toksvig-type word) in a status update.

I can quite understand the ethics of someone wanting to unfriend me because of language, although personally I'd never unfriend someone because of poor language. I have, however, unfriended people because of even slight hints of misogynism which probably would have gone unnoticed by others.

Where do your boundaries lie?

Racism would do it for me, and I've blocked one of my cousins (who, unfortunately is also "friends" with my daughters) for her constant (every status) use of the F- and C-words (she's 14...)

Posting too much inanity. Language... depends on its intent. That particular word doesn't bother me, it's how it would be used that matters.

I'd go greath lengths refriending someone who unfriended me on FB, just so that I could unfriends him or her again out

Ive only had to unfriend one person, recently, and that was for being a (word deleted) in RL.

I haven't un-friended any yet, but have 'hidden' certain persons statuses as they cannot just post three links and/or three videos a day - but begin at ten of each and counting every time they log on.

It'll take a lot before I un-friend someone, byt there are of course limits to what I want to waste my life on.

I normally don't understand my Bulgarian, Hungarian, Finnish and Estonian friends when they write in their native language, so I won't know if they are crossing my boundaries .

I got unfriended(de-friended?) by someone from h2g2 after an unfortunate remark in the chat. Straight away, with no real chance to apologize. That seemed a bit of an overreaction.

Racism or homophobia gets an instant de-friending from me. Being related to me and putting in a friend request gets that person blocked.

If someone's posting the same inane stuff over and over, I'll probably just hide them on my news feed, unless the stuff they're posting is really stupid.

I've been de-friended for my language before, which I thought was excessive but not really that concerned.

I've blocked a person, and at times, I hide the messages of a friend if there are too many. I don't recall having 'unfriended' anybody knowingly (though I did accidentally once or twice).
I have no idea what it would take me.

I hide some peoples' newsfeeds when they post really a lot, but still pop in on their space now and again to see what they are up to. Which, incidentally, is facilitated by Poking.

Or rather, by being poked.

I didn't know I could hide some people's status posts. Can I also block all the posts that tell me they have become a master virtualcheesecake maker, scored 1 billion on bejewelled, or need somebody to help water their virtual potato fields?

I did allow my best friend to unfriend me, so that we could check that the person being unfriended doesn't get a message telling them. And then we refriended again after the experiement was over.

I suppose unfriending is the modern equivalent of crossing somebody off your Christmas card list. Don't think I've ever done that. My worst habit is not responding to friend requests in the first place, because I haven't got round to working out how I want FB to work for me. I know that one of the friend requests I made was rejected, although obviously I've no idea why - she was my chief bridesmaid, although we had fallen out of touch, which was why I was so pleased to find her on FB. Hey ho.

Oh, yes, OP. Well, I can cope with bad language. But not offensive ideas. I'd probably unfriend for that.

I'd really like a feature where I could chose who would get my game updates. I've tried to figure out a such but so far without success.

Requests from games can be blocked, but seemingly not game updates.

I've never unfriended someone, but I imagine misogyny, racism or homophobia would make such a thing happen.

I've blocked one person for personal reasons, and have hidden someone from my news feed because while I don't dislike the person all his status updates are about how awful he thinks his life is.

All my friends have to undergo developed vetting before I even invite them.
