FIFA Presidential Election.
Ferrettbadger. The Renegade Master Posted May 27, 2011
Well with both Sepp Blatter and Bin Hamann under investigation by FIFA for alleged corruption it seems like we might have the farcical situation of an election for the FIFA president happening still in a couple of days.
Is this is IOC Atlanta moment for FIFA? Will it be reformed? Can it be reformed?
Any thoughts?

Simples. I hope we pull out of FIFA.

I don't know about the practicalities of doing that. Unless UEFA were collectively doing it I suspect it would be impossible for an individual European nation to do this without being suspended from all world football.
No way our top clubs would agree to not being allowed into the Champions League and lets be honest the Premier League wears the trousers at the FA.

Apparently, George Davis is innocent, so I vote for him.

Hey I live in Trinidad. Corruption is just a way of life here unfortunately.

I'm unsubbing. Not that I want to but its clearly utterly pointless for me to be able to post anything that doesn't get censored, however careful and vague I am.

I've almost a mind to send copies of my posts to the Daily Mail to show how the BBC now treats Licence Fee payers on discussion boards.

I'll try again
I'm amazed that they were so daft not to know that if England didn't get 2018, a firestorm of blowing the whole thing open was going to happen.

Listening to the reporting earlier today, the whole thing struck me as just an extraordinarily dirty election. All the 'revelations' seem to have been in the context of mud-slinging campaign tactics. Now, the only question that remains is whether Bin Hammam can kick up enough dirt to prevent the election from happening, and thus prevent Blatter from winning, for now.

Australia or the US not getting 2022..but instead a fairly uninhabited desert region, with oven temperatures during summer, didn't do any favours either.
I say go for the kill.

Bizarre! Either blissfully unaware of this issue's seriousness or so utterly convinced he can't be touched that he's enjoying it.

Odd isn't it. An interesting tidbit I read on the subject is that part of FIFA's deal to be based in Switzerland is that they are given a specific exemption from Switzerland's anti corruption laws.
That is just mental.
