...and which one's the pestle? I've never really known this, because I've never known them to be used (or even spoken about) separately.
So £5 says the mini-baseball bat is the pestle.

An easy mnemonic is to think of Elizabethan English. The slang word Pizzle is derived from Pestle. If you can imagine what a pizzle is, you can see which is which by analogy.

It's 'quite interesting' to note that the mortar you pound stuff in and the mortar you fire come from the same root word - Latin mortarium, a vessel for pounding things in. Builder's mortar also comes from the same root, 'cos it's made from stuff that's pounded together.

Oh, and the pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle, but the chalice with the palace has the brew that is true. Or was it the flagon with the dragon?
