Has John Martyn really died?

Great loss, if so.

This would seem to suggest so.

Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

Gosh!

One of the best gigs I ever saw was him in a charity show in East Kilbride of all places. He was solo and did that thing where he played in between the echoes of his own guitar. Virtuoso stuff!

The other two times I saw him he was crap, mind.

Alec Trician. (is keeping perfectly still)

Sad news indeed, he lived life to the full, entertained and inspired countless people and has left behind an amazing legacy.

I'm staying home, i'll probably end up just listening to Spencer the Rover all day smiley - sadface

The most outstanding John Martyn concert for me was in Camden, er 77 i think, he did a solo set, was joined by Danny, then the rest of the band including Steve Winwood.

I've stuck Solid Air on, which might have been a mistake as I'm getting a bit of a tear in the eye.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

I've just spent two hours looking for Solid Air, it's ripping to WMP as I post.

Sad loss indeed, he was excellent the times I saw him live.

'Solid Air' was produced by reggae god, Lee 'Scratch' Perry.

I've seen him several times, good gigs all, great songwriter and guitarist. Rambled pretty incoherently between songs mind, the last time I saw him, but still produced the goods when he worked the guitar in his hands.
Off to listen to Solid Air.

May he never lay his head down without a hand to hold.

Did you get Aly Bain's 'Transatlantic Sessions' down in England? Here's 'May You Never' with Kathy Mattea, the ubiquitous Danny Thompson...and the *stupendous* Jerry Douglas on Dobro.:

I'd post a YouTue link to The Transatlantic Sessions 'Solid Air' - only it features Eddie Reader being a dick at the end.
