Watched Twilight last night... I wanted to shout don't do it at the director. Werewolves, vampires, fashion & romance!
It made me think what do you call the offspring of a 'uman and a vampire? An umpire?!
Also watched Kungfu Panda 1 on TV - I quite liked it but it didn't make me laugh as much as I wanted. I think Jack Black's presentation of pathetic fat folks is a bit jaded. (I'm a big guy and I get a bit tired of the stereotype).

The Mechanic Jason Statham remake...good but not as good as the original Micheal Winner/Charles Bronson version.

Just watched Monsters inc with my grandaughter. She lost interest after about
fifteen minutes so we switched off and she played with her dolls.
Maybe that says something about the film.

Wow! What age is she? Monsters Inc is a much-loved and much-rewatched favourite chez nous.

I've just noted my last post here was Oct 16 2010...time to update then.
I've watched many movies since then and...blah blah blah.
Forget the rest and watch this[was going to insert a YT and a link but I don't think we can do that yet, if ever?)...anyway the movie is
*** Tekron Kinreet *** and you either know of it or you don't. It's anime with a western influence and amazingly it doesn't suffer for that.
Take your grand kids to see this, well actually you wont be able to very often so just go to a specialists store of website and hire it/watch it. The story of 'White' and his brother 'Black' will move you.
Truly it will, leave your movie prejudices at the door please

In Time.
Think Logan's Run meets Bonnie & Clyde but there's no explanation on how they (time owners) managed to suspend the ageing process. Justin Timberlake is a watchable actor, I was expecting him not to be so good for some reason, and the girl/love interest - I guess I'll never get over her ability to run in Posh Spice's high heels. Or her knobbly knees (there's a long duration shot of them in a car, I guess there wasn't enough room for her long legs with tall heels so she had to bend them - twas a very unflattering angle).
Note to 3Dots: (no spoilers) go see this film

I watched Monsters on film4 last night. Basically a nasa probe crashes
in south America and brings back alien life forms. A journalist agrees
to escort a young woman through infected Mexico back to the U.S.
I thought it might be a blood and guts horror but it turned out to be
an enjoyable road movie/love story.

Saw My Week With Marilyn this afternoon. Mostly light, warm and good-looking but it did manage some poignancy talking about Monroe's talent. Michelle Williams puts in a superb performance - for my money she's already got one hand on the Best Actress Oscar.

'Lesbian Vampire Killers': enjoy together with girlfriend and a few glasses of wine, and see what happens...

I saw what has been called "the worst film ever" and sort of enjoyed it. "The Ugly Truth" in which Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl, .. Oh I can't be bothered. The sort of film you enjoy with a gaggle of giggling girls glugging glühwein.
And I just finished watching "The Time Traveller's Wife" (Sorry, TV was really AWFUL tonight). It was nothing like I imagined it would be. And I am really fussy about time travel films when people don't seem to get it, but couldn't find any flaws in this story. I think it was inspired by a woman's fantasy of being able to meet the young handsome chap she fell in love with, over and over again at later dates along the line. Not a bad idea, really. Nonetheless, it was more of a chick flick than I thought it was going to be.
There were several Chubby Checker moments (i.e. like in BTTF where Marty is playing Johnny B Goode and someone phones Chubby Checker so he can hear the music. Loved that chicken vs egg thing). But I won't spoil them for anyone who still hasn't seen it or read the book.

The one movie to make it on top of my list of worst movies ever is 'Hannover Street'. Watch it - you'll be surprised who the lead actor is...

Saw We Need To Talk About Kevin. I didn't like it, I've never been able to understand what people get out of misery porn.
Did see a trailer for a film called Another Earth which I've heard nothing about but looks very interesting.

Watched 'An Officer and a Gentleman' on TV last night (until I fell asleep). I really didn't remember the language being so or did all the bad words get edited out on previous showings?

I didn't see Another Earth but the reviews were extremely positive.

The Rum Diaries.
Probably I'm biased, but any film which shows a lot of Johnny Depp, plus the bonus of him naked in the shower and kissing a pretty girl, gets 10/10 from me. I did not think I could have a better day but I saw an ad for Brad Pitt's latest film and he looks damned fine in that

Watched The Sinking of Japan over the weekend. It's a (Japanese)
disaster movie but thankfully not the whizbang noisy fare of
Hollywoood. Not brilliant but still quite enjoyable.....and of course
the hero dies.

Hi, I'm new to these things, so bear with me. Just saw "Midnight in Paris" you know, the Woody Allen film. Really liked it, really, really liked it. It's what cinema was made for, no robots, no CGI, no torture porn, just an imaginative script and a city. Lose yourself for an hour or so and watch.

'The Strangers'. Horror at its finest, and Liv Tyler showing that she's actually a pretty good actress (yes, really)

Saw "The Thing" today. Pleasantly surprised. You know that you're building up resentment to the bloody thing from the off, but it's no bad. Probably call it all kinds of kak when I sober up tomorrow, but until then, it's a thumbs up from me.
Key: Complain about this post
