Well, Muslims believe that you are born Muslim and that you don't convert to the religion, you revert to it.
But then, despite what he might think, warner isn't a Muslim.

I love all the Prophets/Messengers and I love Almighty God most of all.
Regards the question of a baby's religion, the actual quote is:
Every newborn baby is born according to fitra*, then parents give him a name of
a religious affiliation (Christianity, Hindu, Muslim, Magus etc.)
*fitra means 'according to nature' or 'with purity'

What do you think of warner's statement that:

How does this fit in with all being born sinful? You both claim to be Christians and yet you seem to disagree on this fundamental question. How are we to properly choose between the two answers?

Warner:
unlike you I, a total stranger, wish your daughter a happy life, no matter what her marital decisions.

That's illogical. Of course I wish my daughter a happy life, no matter what her marital decisions.
But knowing what I know, I doubt very much whether she would be happy in the long run,
if she made a foolish one.
In fact, you might be interested to know that the person who was responsible for 'my religious education'
when I found Islam, has had exactly that happen to him.
He originally was a 'black Jew' and discovered Qur'an. There are many tests for
us in this life ..

Well...as far as I'm concerned you've demonstrated that religion, despite it's pretentions, doesn't necessarily occupy the moral high ground. You are disguising your own desire to control your daughter's life as a matter of faith. That's utterly immoral.

Well, the LAST word on my daughters, Ed.
>>That's utterly immoral.<<
That's your opinion.
I don't know if you've got a daughter, but I wonder how you would feel, for example,
if she unfortunately 'got in with the wrong crowd' and became a junkie,
stealing everything that you had in the house, for a couple of years.
You might think again!
And don't tell me, that it's a different situation, because it always is ..

>>That's your opinion.
Absolutely! It's my opinion. I'm not taking it from anyone else. Unlike you.
Yes, I have a daughter - but I wouldn't be so cheap as to use her to make a point about my own faith (or lack thereof). But if she *did* become a junkie - I'd certainly counsel otherwise but would absolutely not cut her off from my emotional support. That would be immoral.

>>how does the Jewish part of you feel about what the Hadith have to say about that part?<<
Could you expound? Which hadith are you referring to?
About Jews, I take it ..
I think that the best thing for everybody to do, is to look in the mirror.
What do you see ? (ha, ha) I know what I see. I see an imperfect person who's trying
to please God. A very sinful, weak one, at that ..

Excellent idea. When I do that, I see a big hairy monkey looking back. There are days when I'm feeling good enough about myself that I think it's a pretty good looking monkey.
What do you see? The face of Almighty God himself, the creator of the universe who made it all to revolve around you. All you have to do is worship him.
All that and humble too! I'm impressed.

As I've already indicated in post 14911, there's no point in looking at all the injustice in the world,
and making conclusions about Scripture or Almighty God.
The discussion, imo, is about the existence of God and the 'truth of the Scriptures'.

No, the discussion is about the progress of humanity and finding the truth about the universe. Guesses about how to please your god of all corn has nothing to do with this anymore.

And in our opinion it's not.
It's about real world issues created by peoples belief in gods.
Although, to call it a discussion overall is stretching the truth really.

>>It's about real world issues created by peoples belief in gods.<<
Can you stop people believing in their 'creed'?
Isn't it better to find out which creed is right?
You will probably say that you're an atheist. You have no creed.
Doesn't that create world issues, also. I doubt that an atheist from one country has the
same 'way of life' or 'set of morals' from another, overall.
ie. All atheists won't share the same political values
