I'm going to have a go at it again.
A plot fell into my lap recently and so I want to do 50,000 words to see where I can go with that. Though of course my 50,000 words will be from scratch - I don't want to cheat!
Good luck everybody!

I have a rough idea for this year (which is more than I did last year!) so I might be a little more successful this time around.
50,000 words here I come.
y'all.

do we have an h2g2 NaNo support page?
where we can congregate away from official NaNo stuff and Ask?
or isn't anyone that bothered about it?
I'm really getting excited now - I've been sort of thinking about this novel for a while, so I sort of have things sketched out in my head. But in the interests of "not cheating" I've not written anything down yet.

NaNoWriMo?
Not a chance... I've been attempting to write a novel for nearly a year and a half now, about 15 months of which have been spent attempting to start chapter four. I have about 3,000 words so far.

It is! It's all about switching the 'internal critic' (who is very useful, but not until you've actually got stuff written down) off and going for quantity over quality. (Initially!) I didn't see the value of it until I gave it a go.

Unfortunately my internal critic can shout very loudly and has pointy sticks.

I've tried being stern with mine, but he just pokes harder and says things like "You call that plot development?" and "That's not grammar, it's a bloody mess!"
Still, at least I've got a well-developed fantasy world which I may salvage for use in a D&D campaign at some point.

The worst thing is that I *can* write and do it well... the rough version of the first bit of my story is at http://dreadfultales.wordpress.com/ and as you can see the feedback's been all positive. Yeah, some of the names need a bit of work (I'm thinking of going from Germanic to more Anglo-Saxon, Germanic names are too Warhammer), but it would be a good story if I just knew where to take it next!

I wish my internal critic was a bit more active, like yours seem to be. Mine just yawns and looks at her watch a lot.

Oh, I'm getting ridiculously excited now! I just want to write. In the interests of not cheating I haven't written down any notes but I'm working it all out in my head and just hoping that I don't get whacked on the head with a shovel and forget it all.
Not that I tend to get myself into situations where shovel-head interactions are that common, of course.
