Yer know, I just used cheese. Plain old Cheddar. And every morning, there was a fresh corpse to be disposed of.

If a high volume of rats are becoming a problem and poison isn't an option for environmental reasons (presence of non-vermin wild animals/pets/children) then a combination of traps and shooting them (with air-guns, used by experts, please) is the only way.

Either that or call in the Pest Control officer.
I was woken by a noise in the attic last night and I suspect the recent frosts have encourage the 
to find somewhere cosy to spend the winter.
