Why is 7-11 open 24 hours a day and not from 07.00 - 23.00? So why is it not called 0-24?

I think the 7-11 comes from when they first started & were open 7 days a week , 11 hours a day.
And after they'd been going for a while & were successful & stayed open 24 hours a day it was too expensive to change the stationery. But I could be wrong

He might not be from the planet United States where 7-11s are prevelant.

The planet England, a small satellite of Europe. I vote for 7-24 even though I still haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

I used to live near a 7-11 (in England, I hasten to add) that was open from 9 till 8. Go figure...

Well if you think about it the 24 hour stores ARE open from 7-11. They just also happen to be open from 11-7 as well.
What concerns me is the Store 24's that close at 11 and open at 7. (I'm really not making that up either. Reality truly is stranger than fiction.)

The 7-11 closest to where I live, actually opens at 7am and closes at 11pm. (None of the others in the rest of the area does, of course - my bad luck again!)

England a satellite of Europe? I thought it was the other way around, I saw a headline in the Times that said "Channel Fogged In, Continent Isolated" or something similar.
If 7-11 isn't working out, maybe you could try some of the US convenience store names: Stop 'N Go, Pick 'N Pay, Toot 'N Scoot (with a drive thru), Poop 'N Scoop (wait, that's kitty litter) ...
