Cannes Question

Post 1

Allegra

My husband and I will be staying near Cannes in the South of France in May 2003 and I would like to get the flavor of the famed film festival without being trampled (or worse, humiliated) by the glitzy crowds. Any suggestions about ways to get in on the fun, maybe even see a film, and still remain sane and solvent? Is there such a thing as budget Cannes?

In addition, I am looking for good ideas about reasonable hotels or good B&B's for a three-night stopover in London. Of course if you Researchers are mostly Londoners and Brits, you won't have a clue because you live there (and that makes this a pretty silly question.)

In that case, what does a literate Londoner do for fun on a free day in early May in the city?
