Hmm... I'm taller than most women (5'11) but most of my friends are tall guys so I don't really notice it until I happen to be in a group of women again and notice I'm looming over everyone. Even in small heels I'm taller than my boyfriend, which I don't think he likes very much.

WOW! Looking at that chart (on the wikipedia link) they grow them tall in Denmark don't they! I wonder what it is about the place - even the dogs are called Great Danes!

I'm 5 foot 3 and a half, B is 5 foot 4 and a half. I'd like him to be slightly taller as on the odd occasion when we go out I wear heels and tower over him (or so it feels)

I spotted a couple the other day and guessed (going by the height of a door they walked past) their heights to be about 6'3" (her) and 6'7" (him). Perhaps they were from Denmark?

That's funny, I was looking at the stats for Denmark thinking "Are we not taller than that?". At least I would have thought our women are taller. But the Dutch still have us beat dammit.

Personally I think it is a way of compensating for having such flat countries

Blimey, I've dated all types before settling down with the lovely Mrs X who is about 5-7.

Though at 6-2 in my barefeet, I don't really consider myself tall, which the lovely bride says is me being typically delusional...

As said on the other thread, I'm about 173cm/ 5'8''. When I go out, I usually don't wear high heels, so the boys don't get scared . Really! I find that they're more comfortable talking to smaller girls, even when they're tall themselves.
But it's a good thing to say if you want to put off someone annoying: "Er, how tall are you exactly?" Only works for a size up to 5'10'', unfortunately

I'm not sure I qualify as tall (6'2") but I will chime in anyhow . I've always seemed to date women over 5'6". I've known guys taller than I am who seem to always end up with much shorter women and have been perplexed. It is hard to start a conversation and get to know someone well enough to decide you like them if you are always looking down on them .

I'm slightly taller than average at 5'7", but my husband is slightly shorter than average at 5'8".

He sometimes says he'd prefer me to be a bit shorter so he could rest his head properly on my shoulder . And when I wear heels, it feels weird for me to be taller than him .

I know someone who is 6'2" who's engaged to a woman who's 5'3" - I think they've had occasional cricks in their necks, but they seem happy enough . He hadn't dated anyone else before her, so I can't say if he definitely prefers shorter women or not.

6'3" (me) and my girlfriend Lan is a little over 5'. She seems more self-conscious about it than I do. I can't give an average as she's the only one, though prior to meeting her I did have quite close friendships with a few girls, one of whom must have been around 5'3". It bothered me that I tended to speak at the top of her head all the time, but Lan's height was never an issue, which I put down to us just paying more attention to each other. I wouldn't say I'd prefer someone taller. Conversely, I do know girls (well, one in particular) who don't like the idea of dating someone shorter than them and corresponding frustration from shorter male friends, to which I do sometimes feel a twinge of guilt...

So what about short guys, do they prefer tall women?
