Cumbersome URL structure for forum threads

Is there any technical reason why URLs for forum threads have acquired an article number as well? It makes testing rather difficult - if I'm looking at this thread posting on the old site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/T501032 I can't find it on the beta. If I try http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/beta/T501032 I get "Resource Not Found" And as I don't know the parent article or forum number, I can't find it with this format URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/beta/forums/A639056 http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/beta/forums/639056/conversation/view/F77636/T7874056 I note there's a further inconsistency with the new forum URLs themselves, as to whether the parent article number needs an 'A' prefix. With a bold reboot, it'd be a shame to miss the opportunity to simplify the URL structure.

Ah, it appears those Axxxx and Fxxxx parameters are mostly decorative (see bug report at http://h2g2.com/T7880348).
