Don't do it if at all possible. If you were given directions they will not be right because the Big Dig has changed all the roads, some will be closed off, other will not be there anymore. Every day there is a new street that goes nowhere, construction everywhere, thus making your drive completely miserable, and causing you to want to ram other cars, scream at everyone, and wishing you could kill who ever came up with this insane idea (The Big Dig).

The Big Dig was some moronic persons idea on how to releave some of the traffic in Boston. This idea was to take highway 93 and put it underground, well now after ripping the city all to hell they have put a hold on anymore construction due to misappropiations of funding. The Federal Government came in looked at all the records of spending, because it ran about $50,000 over budget and its not even half way through. The result... a driving nightmare. I have lived here my whole life and I get lost going to places I have gone to my whole life. My best suggestion, take the subway or a cab.

If you have any questions about Boston, things to do, where to go etc. just ask.

I do think you meant $50 million over budget, not $50 thousand. Close enough for government work.
The T is wonderful, though. It'll take you most places you need to go in Boston, for a fare of 85 cents each way. Of course, it could be a nice day (like on my last visit, 2 weeks ago), and you can take a walk. I parked near Boston University, walked to the Public Garden and back, and then went to the game at Fenway Park, no problem.
