TAKING ORDERS FOR THE NEXT FUN RUN
vegiman:-) Started conversation Aug 15, 1999
The next Fun run will be for four pages only. The first four will be considered. Preference will be given to anyone who reviewed others pages on previous fun runs. May even have two going at the same time.
The format may be altered slightly, but the aim will be the same.
If you wish to enter a page, please STATE THE NAME OF THE ARTICLE and the Page NUMBER, the full link would be helpful.
REMEMBER:
Name of article and page number.
I may not have time to chase around pages to finding out details you have not put down.
Thanks vegiman

Proving that I am completely unable to criticise my own work, and therefore require the input of others, I am unable to choose my best piece. I have narrowed the field to two, and will defer to your good judgement:
1. Dungeons and Dragons: http://www.h2g2.com/P139268
2. Inland Empire, California: http://www.h2g2.com/P136847

H2G2 : Mudpies : A149816

Sounds Like a good Idea GargleB - that'll save me a job. I never get the time to do the running around - I would have just tossed a coin - Heads or Tails.

OK you two: I hate to crash a closed party but...
1. Housewarming parties http://www.h2g2.com/P146819
2. Librarians http://www.h2g2.com/P146783
Same deal applies - pick the best one if either are worth considering (note that the first of these has already been submitted). All comments welcome.

Anonymouse: I like the Mudpies article better of your two [about something not so local...].
GargleBlaster: I like the Dungeons and Dragons article better of your two [more resonance for this non-American reader...].

Hypodude: welcome to the party. I prefer your Librarians entry out of the two.
Anonymouse: I hate to disagree with Hypoman, but I will. I think the Hillbilly piece is the better of the two. So I guess this joint criticism idea isn't the success I thought it would be, eh?

Just to let you know I'm not ignoring you... I've just been busy the past couple days and right now I'd prefer to give each of the four pieces my undivided attention rather than the bleary-eyed, semi-concious, nearly-total insanity I now possess.
Erm... Well.. That is if the deal still goes... I'd guess it's still up to vegiman in the end anyway. *ahem*

Hello?
Hello???
Can I join in??
My favourite articles are:
How to be a Fool
http://www.h2g2.com/P131851
Flying Pigs
http://www.h2g2.com/A86069
If they're no good or you've already got enough, that's ok...I'll cope...
*bursts into tears and dashes out again*

Any and all critiques will be met with beer and pretzels.
Thanks!!

Thanks for the articles - wherever possible, none will be turned down. I hope to make the fun run an on going thing. Perhaps two or maybe three going at the same time - we seem to have enough to get the next one going soon. I will contact you on your own pages with the details.
I propose that each run will last two weeks and if we have enough articles we will post a new run every week. There will be four articles per run with one forum for people to review. Once it starts, it will be up to you what responses you give to reviewers. Change and update your entry whenever you feel it prudent. When you are happy with it- submit it - even after an article has been submitted it can still be altered. In fact you can alter it right up to the time it is accepted.
I am guilty of not yet writing the final update on my article in the last fun run. Do not make the same mistake as myself - Make time and get it right.

Ack... I like both of these.
The D&D page was more -fun- to read, perhaps by a nose.
The Inland Empire came in first in information.
Both would make great fun-run entries -and- Guide Pages, IMHO.

With thanks to Anonymouse for that lavish praise, I hereby officially submit the Dungeons and Dragons piece for the fun run.
Cafram: Both of those articles are funny, but I recommend you use the "How to Be a Fool" article. I can't be quite certain on this, but I think a guide entry is supposed to have a grain of truth in it somewhere; this is the only reason I would discount the Flying Pigs article

I'm gonna agree with GB on this one... Though I did like the flying pigs (somewhere on the page you might consider mentioning the 'when pigs fly' thing ), guide entry submission 'suggestions' by TPTB do mention non-fiction, and there are plenty of living examples of the Fools article to use as proof.

*whew* ... Okay.. I think I got everyone
GB: Thank you, kind Sir.
In view of vegiman's comments above, I think I'll leave both articles as fodder for his plans.

Cafram, I concur with GargleBlaster in his judgement. I think I just like the "Fool" article more, anyway, although it IS pretty long.
Take a look at mine (see above) - I need a third opinion to break the deadlock...
Key: Complain about this post
