Thank you. I am, was, having a really crap day until I saw the response to that bit of work. I do not normally react like that but is was bad timing and my day went from crap to abysmal.

I know that just one person's opinion is not the be all and end all, hell, I managed to withstand Alex!! It just hit me when I was down. Thats the trouble with sites such as this.
Sometimes people are here not because they want to be "great" writers but because it gives them a lifeline.
Constructive crits, great, as John and ARG and tJ, did on Clay, with kindness are one thing, but I obviously upset Joe and he decided to take an axe to my ego.

I am sorry/surprised you left the sites. I hope that once things have cooled off, you will reconsider joining them? And at the same time to carry on writing short stories, which you ARE good at.

I can understand you having a bad day but I would try not to react overemotionally to a crit which was not intended personally, as you seem to be taking it.

The crit was harsh but should have been worded differently so as not to 'offend' you.
I also left a comment beneath that of Kath's.

All of us are on the writing sites not only to learn to write but to crit as well.

However I can not see why you have 'obviously upset Joe' and even less why he should 'take an axe to your ego'.

Can you explain please?

Hello Mel. I was having a crap morning. I suffer anxiety and panic attacks and had also just got a letter from the hospital confirming date for an eye op next week.( I have had a deteriorating prob for some time) I logged on to write women and found a few good comments about my writing. I knew I had to do some work on it, what I posted was only a very rough tumbling out of ideas.

Joe's crit rather took me aback, it was very harsh. I had a massive attack of paranioa and worthlessness and my knee jerk reaction was to take myself away from all possible harm to my already fragile ego.
I though maybe my comment in chatterbox thread had upset Joe even though I said I was only joshing.

I don't for one minute think that he would be so cruel as to get back at me by stamping all over my work. It just felt like that this morning.
I have sat in a dark room in my pj's till 3,30pm today fretting. Only since picking daughter up from school and seeing a couple of friends have I cheered up.
Not anybody's fault.
Maybe I should carry on taking the tablets.

Everybody has bad days, regretfully some of us more than others (I know).

I do hope your eye op goes well next week. Never had one, but I know from friends that this can seem daunting, until it's over and done, with loads of relief and good results.

It just should have been worded differently.
