Who's next? It's not Iran. It's not North Korea. Bush has announced it's . . .

Now I see your meaning.
What I got from it was that: They are always going to make a good profit from fresh imported beans from a place like cuba by saying so on the labell but if other importers sell the same product they will have to go some way toward matching the competition. The fair trade logo will mean they can still sell for more than the others because consumers generally like to make themselves feel good but feeling they support such things.
The importers concern, comming from a farming nation themselves, was probably the farmers of the beans.
I'm usually one of the biggest sceptics there are when it comes to human nature but there are stores like trade aid and such that seem to have no problem doing business.

I'm not questioning the ethics of their business.
*Assuming* they didn't increase their purchase price, I suspect whoever wrote the article looked at both ends of the deal and saw how each could honestly be interpreted as taking a hit, without realising that each hit is only valid from a different perspective, and wrote up accordingly.

did you actually follow the link?
I wouldn't really call it an article as it was on the site of the business in question.
Anyway if thins like that become more common then the US embargo won't matter either way

Yes, but the contents were pretty much quoted in the posting anyway.
It doesn't matter who wrote the words - sympathetic journalist or actual participant. The *apparent* misconception is the same, and understandable for the same reasons.

Actually, it *is* Iran. And Syria.

I gather that the American Armed forces are pretty over-extended, so a warning might be the best he can do at this stage... but woe betide the world if he decides otherwise!

No. . . . No . . . .
Now it's . . .
Russia!
'Russia needs to show a commitment to a free press and other "basics of democracy," and co-operate with former Soviet republics such as Georgia and Ukraine where democracy is taking hold, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Saturday.'

Bush is not going to attack anyone. He doesn't have any troops left to attack with. He doesn't have enough forces to rotate troops from Iraq or Afganistan so the GI's can have a little R&R. They're all having to serve multiple tours as it is.
Anyone else Mr. Bush jumped on would probably put up too much fight, ie.Cuba. Bush would have to call up the Boy Scouts, and that wouldn't do.

Hi, basefare.
I'm pretty sure that Bush wouldn't succeed with anothe invasion (although I'm not sure that in his blinkered little world he wouldn't order one). I am, however, quite sure that Bush would have no qualms about using the Air Force and Navy against any country he could reach if it suited his purposes. And the Air Force and Navy are far from overstretched.

Hey, basefare, I just realized that you're from Get Writing. You know, if you're looking for a community that can give you an opportunity to hone your writing (if Get Writing goes), H2G2 may be it. Whether it's fiction or poetry (the post and the Alternative Writer's Workshop) or non-fiction (the Edited Guide) you'll find encouragement and help here.
Just in case.

Ah, yes, the old "recalling the ambassador" trick... It appears that Hariri was an a "Friend of the USA" and that Syria is being blamed. (I am listening to the BBC WS on this subject and the Kyoto protocol.)

Thanks for the tip, anhaga. I will need a place so I'll check it out. I tried to leave my comments on 'I can' a short while ago regarding the get writing closing. They asked for my password and I have completely forgotten it. I may have to re-register. Thanks again.
