Well guess who needs glasses?
I went for my eye appointment yesterday and it turns out that my prescription is considerably worse than last time. I went in two years ago because I noticed things were a little blurry in the distance and she said I had a little prescription, but only in one eye and not really enough to bother getting it filled. This time though both my eyes are fuzzy, only a ¼ difference between the two. Fortunately I don’t have to wear them all the time. Just when trying to see the blackboard at school from far away or things like that. It’s not even bad enough that it has to be written on the back of my drivers license.
I’m going to pick my glasses I’m not sure what kind I’ll pick. I’ve been looking for advise on the internet and it seems if you have an oval face you’re supposed to go with rectangular glasses. That’s fine by me…. I wanted rectangular anyway.
In other news my first day by myself at work went very well. No kids got hurt and there were few disputes. For a craft I showed them all how to make kites and then we took them outside and flew them. It was good fun.
Wish me luck finding nice looking glasses. And of course not picking something that I think looks cool but is actually hideous

Oh, AL, I know exactly what you mean. I picked glasses that I thought looked ok, yet I feel like a schoolmistress when I have them on, and ten years younger when I take them off
with the glasses. I am glad work is going ok too.

I dont remember that... Did you get new glasses?
I dont think I'll do that... I think that would be more expensive and I dont think I'll have to wear them that often.

Yes. And a new prescription. AND I found out I can't get LASIK because my corneas are too thin.
But they look so cool!

A quick word of advice in passing: if you have a nickel allergy, take care to avoid nickel-based frames. (If you get nickel-based frames and end up with sore skin and a kind of scabby substance around the bridge of your nose, you've probably discovered you have an allergy.)

Sounds like me when I started. I found out that I needed glasses when I was working in a boys home. I borrowed one of the boys glasses for a laugh while we were sitting watching TV and suddenly I saw the picture clearly. Up to then I thought it was meant to be blurry!

I'd love to see you in your new glasses X.
Thanks for the Advise RFJS.
I have to agree with you now TB All the best people wear glasses ...As of Friday that is... I dont get mine till then.
I know what you mean Vestie! Because I can see things up close it feels like everything far away is supposed to be blurry. I was amazed how well I could see in the eye appointment when they were finding out what prescription I need.

Boy to dad: I think I'm short sighted.
Dad takes man outside and points at the sky and says, "What's that?"
Boy: The sun.
Dad: So how far do you want to see?

Oh Vestie....
I got my glasses. I can't tell you all what a difference it makes!! I'm very happy with them and there's a picture of them (without me in them) on my website if anyone would like to see.

Nice glasses! Always heard that glasses make a person look smarter So I must look stupid.
Four Eyes!!
Arisztid Lugosi Posted May 29, 2008
I hope people without glasses don't look stupid!! Otherwise I've been looking stupid for the last 21 years!!
I think its like a self fulfilling prophesy... We say people with glasses look smarter and we hear it so much that finally when we see people with glasses they look smarter...
I'm glad you like them

Probably is one of those things people say to kids who don't want glasses to make them want to wear them.

Arisztid Lugosi Posted May 31, 2008
Ah, yes. Now that's a thought. You may well have something there. It sounds just like the thing I'd say to some kid who didn't want their glasses.
