I had a nasty shock this morning.
I was driving into school and quite enjoying myself. At about 9:50 I was stopped at a set of traffic lights and happily singing away to my music (Morrissey at the time). All of a sudden there was a bang/crash sort of noise and my head went forward and then slammed back into the headrest I was so surprised it took me a second to realise what had happened. Could have been an alien landing or anything as far as I was concerned. I realised that I'd been rear-ended. I didn't know what to do! It was the first time anything like that had ever happened to me.
I saw the other person was getting out of their truck so I got out of my car and we took a look. It really looks like nothing at all. As we were talking a nice man driving past stopped to ask if I needed any help but I just said that no, it was fine. Looking back on it now I would have liked to have thanked him. It was very nice of him to stop but I was feeling too shakey and confused at the time.
I thought I was putting a good face on, but perhaps not. The person that hit me kept asking if I was all right.
I persuaded him to pull off into a nearby parking lot so we could exchange information, which we did. Then he went off to work and I called my dad . Just as I was telling him about it my cell phone ran out of money!! I had to drive to the mall to find a pay phone!!!
By the time I got to school I was ten minutes late for my first class and still feeling rather shakey so I decided to skip it and instead I sat in the hallway outside my next class and enjoyed the sunshine and read a dull English book.
I feel much better now and am relaxing on the couch and watching "Murder Ahoy."
I'm glad it turned out all right. I'm extremely glad it wasn't my fault!!
It's good to be home and not driving a car at the moment

So it's not just me who sings along to Morrissey. That's a relief.
It's also a relief to know that you are undamaged. (Never mind the car.)

Oh yes, I love to happily sing along to Morrissey. Especially in the car. I'm glad to hear you do it too!
Thank you for caring about me You're such a lovely person Ivan. I'm so glad we're friends.

Glad you are okay. My car was rear ended last year by a very odd fellow, but no damage was done.

Oh dear, a very odd fellow? I hope everything was all right. I guess I was very lucky the person who hit me seemed very nice.

Yes, the person who hit me was an older man who was, um, drooling. It was pretty gross. I wasn't hurt though, and no damage to the car, though it did give me a big scare.

I can imagine! Poor you! I'm glad you're all right. I'll count myself lucky now.

Yeah. A car accident is bad enough - an accident with added drool is just too strange to contemplate.

I hope you have recovered from the shock now. Some times there is a delayed reaction. Take care.

Glad you're ok. Accidents are yucky. It's good to see that there was someone who stopped to make sure you were ok even if you didn't need them.

I agree. I thought it was so nice of them to stop.
The man that hit me called while I was at school to make sure I was all right. I thought that was very nice of him. I called him back just now to let him know that everything is all right. He was very happy to hear that.
It's nice to have it all sorted out.
I'm feeling really good today. Yesterday I felt a little achey, its good to know I was right and it was just from the way I was sitting while I was reading.

Now I feel terrible! I just went into someone a couple of hours ago at a roundabout! Everyone's ok, but it was my fault and I feel so bad about it.

Awww! It's all right! It can happen so easily. I've almost done it several times myself. I hope they were nice about it?

Driving shouldn't be underestimated, I don't think I've got the guts to learn to drive just yet!
Just found this thread- glad you're okay Arisz!

Absolutely. I'm in an automatic courtesy car and it's scaring me coz I don't know it's capabilities.

NPY Posted Jan 30, 2008
Well luckily, they swapped me today coz they had someone else looking for an automatic, so I'm back in a manual. Brilliant!!

I have only ever driven standard once. It was far too nerve-wracking for me.
I'm glad I was forced to go on driving after it happened. I think perhaps what they say about falling off the horse is very true. I'm now happily and confidently continuing to drive. Although I have to admit sometimes when I stop at lights I stare in a paranoid manner at my rear view mirror.
Does your rental care smell funny?

Kinda. The automatic one smelled like someone had left their swimming kit in the boot or something. Just that slightly chlorine pool smell. The manual they swapped me into doesn't seem to smell too bad.
