Deb Started conversation Nov 1, 2012
Well, I seem to have committed to it again, and I have no idea yet what I'm going to write about on each of the next 30 days. Except today, which is just going to be a ramble about how I'm going to give it a go and what I thought I might do.
My first thought was to title each day's entry with an eighties single title. The Sun Always Shines On TV was going to be about how badly lit many US dramas appear to be. Here I Go Again was about dieting. But I realised that many of the ideas I had were ones I'd used last year, and I thought that was a) a cop-out, and b) boring.
So then, walking the dog in the dark one evening, looking at the way the clouds were going across the moon, I thought maybe I'd do a story, ending each day with a bit of a cliff-hanger. I had the opening two sentences: "It was a dark & stormy night. It had been a bright, clear evening when they'd set out." But then I realised I had no idea how I could keep up the impetus for the whole month.
My next idea was to use song titles featuring the day of the week I was writing on. I looked up Thursday song titles and wasn't inspired at all, so gave up on that one altogether.
My fourth thought was to just not bother. Looking at the "How shall we organise this" thread, everyone was linking to their A-pages. I have no idea how to do that, and I don't have time to learn. I just thought, this is too hard. I'm just not going to do it.
Then I thought, hang on, there don't seem to be any hard and fast rules this year. So I decided I'd write my journal then go to the NaJoMoPo 2012 page and start a new conversation called NajoPoMo2012 Day 1 and post a link there. Maybe others will join in, maybe they won't. The point is the challenge.
So here it is, my first journal in the challenge. I have no idea what to write about tomorrow, but maybe inspiration will strike. Or maybe I'll just write about the diet .

"We all lead interesting lives".
It is so true. Other people's journals open up new worlds with new horizons.
It surprises me that I am most enjoying those where people write about what's going on in their head. Perhaps I ought to try that. Now, where did I put my head?
Key: Complain about this post
