Hello and Welcome to h2g2!
My name is Oberon2001, I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) and I'm here to introduce you to h2g2. ACEs are researchers such as yourself that volunteer to welcome new researchers to h2g2. Go to the Aces home page if you want to find out more. We're generally a nice bunch, so please, be good to us. Are you sitting comfortably? Yes? Then I'll begin.
Feisor has written something that new users might find useful -> A719840
H2G2 has something for everyone and to find it Shea's List o' Links -> A534953 would be a good place to start.
If you are a digibox user, or just have a slow connection, you might want to know that h2g2 is available without the graphics. It's a different skin to the one you are probably using now and is called "plain". To find out more go to A948602 or to change your skin right away click this link -> http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain/UserDetails and make sure "plain" is selected in the skin box then click "update details".
Of course, the Personal Space is your home page on h2g2 and the place where people can find out about you, so, if you want to spruce it up a little, this link -> A690518 <- will probably come in handy.
A community like h2g2 eventually creates its own specialized vocabulary- and some of it can get rather confusing. Go here -> A632431 <- to catch up.
If you ever get stuck on h2g2 or want to find out something about it the Gurus will probably be able to help you out. Click the 'Feedback' button at the top/side of the page, depending on which skin you are viewing h2g2 in.
Another fine set of people to ask would be the Italics, as they are the people that run h2g2 on a daily basis. When Italics post into conversations their name will appear in bold and Italic (for instance, when Anna -> U25 <- appears in conversations, she appears with her nickname in bold and italics).
If you ever want to get in touch with me, click REPLY at the bottom of this message or go to my Personal Space-> U204088 and click DISCUSS and I'll try my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
In the meantime have a and some (or , your choice!)
Oberon2001
PS, you might be interested to know there's a h2g2 musicians guild around here somewhere. Do you want me to fish out the link?

Hi Optical Illusion,
Thanks for dropping by. No serious Guide ML in my introduction page - decided I didn't want any library pictures, so I designed my own, then found out I couldn't load it in, so I had to use this poor text-based facsimile instead, but I quite like its lo-fi-ness.
I like that little jungle you've got going. Hope university work is going ok, and you've still got some time for monkeying around, love sesh

Thanks for the compliment I too like my jungle . University work is a little manic cos I have a lot to do at the moment but I have given my self a day of rest except with a seminar and lecture thrown in too. But what I mean is I haven't done any work on essays etc today. I am thinking of packing in work too due to the large amount of work I have to do as well and I'm only in my first year!! But yes I also make time for other stuff to. I used to do volunteering but I gave that in due to boredom and the fact I felt I wasn't needed. I am glad I did now cos I am more busy too now with academic work.
Key: Complain about this post
