I've got it: DeQuervain's stenosing tenosynovitis.
"It is an irritation and swelling of the sheath or tunnel which surrounds the thumb tendons as they pass from the wrist to the thumb."
The hand gave me a cortisone shot. He said to continue wearing a brace and taking anti-inflammatories for 2 weeks. If it's not better, they'll do another shot. If it STILL isn't better, they'll do surgery!
It hurts, especially after being poked and prodded, then getting the shot.

Tendonitis hurts!
Shots hurt!
What caused the tendonitis: Repetitive motions, or a bit of overexertion?

Thanks, Evangeline!
Repetetive motion got me. Too many years of Firearms, I'm afraid. I couldn't do my Qualifications testing this time around because of it
Here's hoping I won't need surgery!
How's life been treating you?

WR,
Too many firearms?! That's awful about your qualifications. How often can you take the test?
It was cooking professionally that caused my carpal tunnel problems. Since then I've switched job positions at the same place. Now, I get a twinge now and again when I over do something.
Life in general is okay. Vacation in a couple of months.
Hello Billy, I haven't seen you around before. Nice to meet you.

We have to qualify twice a year to maintain our commissions. Since I've got a medical excuse, I won't be punished, but I can't carry a weapon until I make it through the testing. There's a long, drawn out process if you fail, so hopefully I won't have to go down that road.
My mom, sister, and various friends have had carpal. You have my utmost sympathy...I know that can be awful!
Got vacation plans, or just hanging out around the old homestead?

WR,
That's good news about not being punished and being able to take the test after recovery.
My wrists(yeah, both of 'em) are better now. It was 2000 when the carpal tunnel inflammation was the worst. I switched from being "Kitchen Manager" to "Database person, Receiving Dept., Cosmetic Buyer, Book Buyer...and whatever else" in 2001. Sounds like a lot, and it is a lot of different things, but no one thing that is so intense as to cause harm. My boss when asked what my official job title was replied: "Oh, just make something up...". I'd really like to see that on my office door.
My vacation is planned for The week of Christmas and the week of New Year's. No big plans to go elsewhere...my brother is coming here from New York. He'll be here on December 12. At least I have two months to clean the house and prepare for company. Last year, my vacation was more exhausting than a week of work. This year I'm planning an extra week.
Billy,
I haven't managed to make it to the ye oLDe Tea Shoppe thread, yet. I seem to get tied up around the Campsite and ask h2g2. I may just have to go and find that thread. By the way, your page is nice and friendly.

I could tell you were friendly from your page. The introduction is very welcoming.
hadn't heard of Motorcycle Speedway or the Pirates before.
I guess it's true what they say, about learning something new everyday.
Would you like a parrot smiley for the pirate theme?

Billy,
The entry below will look like a page of gibberish at first ... Slowly scroll down...there are two parrot smiley tables. One is labeled parrot, the other is labeled red parrot. Highlight, copy and paste the text of the table onto your page. When you click preview you should see the parrots. The green parrot is waddling across my page.

This is the page that shows the smileys as they should appear on any page that uses Guide ML. Unfortunately, they don't work in conversations.

I want a sign for my door that says Dept. of Just Make Something Up...

It's tough building a parrot one feather at a time...
Thankfully, I didn't have to type that table.
