h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

hello Hathornefer! Thanks for applying to become an h2g2 Guardian Angel!

We usually wait until we have a few applications before having a sainting, and as you're the only one so far it may be a few weeks. But that gives you lots of time to plan your details!

Feel free to browse through some of the old sainting ceremonies to get some ideas of what you might like to wear, what kind of wings and halo you'd like to receive, and who or what (if anything) you'd like to accompany you or be present at your sainting. I believe the patronage of Chance is available (I'll double check), so Chance it shall be -- unless you change your mind between now and then.

When the time is right an Archangel will come by with information regarding your ceremony. Please be patient with us, we're having a rather lethargic new year

Thanks Harold - Herald of heaven . I will browse around and see what has gone on before . Patronage of Chance is a good one I think - i will give it some thought though something else may be more appropriate.

I have already started a private campaign of chatting to complete strangers so I guess I am well on the way - and I will continue to keep myself occupied until such time as others appear.

Ok so I have been thinking about this - Hathor is associated with all sorts of things
cows
the colour red
reeds
beer
dancing
horns and a red sundisk - wouldnt go with the halo

Dressing up - I could wear a long red silky dress, lowcut and with those flared sleeves. Around the hem would be some damask-like textured areas which looked like they were reeds - the same around the bottom of the sleeves. You'd have to be real close to spot the design - its delicately done. To most it would be red - as a tribute to my fave italian horror director it would have to be "Deep red". I think I will have my hair braided in the egyptian way with a narrow gold band with tiny lotus flowers and reeds engraved on it - it would coordinate with the two bangles - one on each wrist.

Halos - I think that halos are beer coloured anyway so thats ok.

Wings - I think I would look kind of nice with huge white feathery ones. As I am 5 foot 6 inches I guess closed they would be about 4 foot 6 long but could be openned extensively wrapped around any poor lost soul for protection or solace.

Accompnying me - My knightly horse and boar are of another realm so they would be elsewhere. I think that becoming an angel is something that I must do alone - so would not take anyone or anything with me. In truth being a touchy feely person I would take great comfort in the silky dress and the future warmth of feathery white wings and the warming glow of a halo.

Other considerations - I guess I would rather not see too many cow based products on the refreshments table - cos cows werent bred to talk and want to be eaten in my day. As those who worshipped Hathor showed her as being a cow on occasions it really would be kind of cruel.

Seperated for a reason - having looked at previous postings it talks about the angelic way of communicating. For the record - I already exist in my egyptian form in Yahoo - so that is one less thing to worry about (if Yahoo still plays its part.)

I should never have been given the oportunity to change my mind cant choese between chance and red tape

Perhaps I could be Angel Hathornefer Patron saint of chance and red tape - then I dont have to choose. Think they work quite well together

The ceremony shouldn't be too far off i think... I'm planning on giving the archangels a poke today to see if they're thinking about getting ready. should be soon, i hope!

Gets in her milk bath

Watches shaddowy figures the other side of the fine gauze curtains frantically running about with beautiful garments, fine gold and jewels, make up, wigs and oils.

She can here them talking in hushed voices and whispering.

Outside Oblisk is restless he has not had a good run for two days with all this preperation going on. The boar (*still with a nail in it) wallows in a self made boar hole making the sounds of a contented animal.

Hathornefer craves a bacon sarnie as she lays in her relaxing bath

Hathornefer gets out the milk bath greeted by a handmaiden with a drying cloth, and makes a mental note to stop watching films like Anthony and Cleopatra.

With the hand maiden hired in for the day (what you thought my life was like this every day!?!) Hathornefer prepares for the coming ceremony - she has heard a rumour that AGB has been hard at work making the ceremonial rooms really pretty.

*cooks a perfect bacon sarnie and leaves it outside Hath's bedroom*

She stops applying the last of her finery...

"Funny, my imagination is working overtime. I am sure I can smell bacon"

Stands up picking up her last bangle as she goes and heads of following her nose












(Yes I am gonna be here for the ceremony)

Brings a beautiful bacon sandwich into her quarters and devours it. That was DIVINE!

Gives herself the once over in the mirror, adjusts herself and heads out to the other thread pondering who was nice enough to leave a bacon sandwich for her just when she needed it.
