Skol, skol, skol, skol....
,,,
I picked this up from the Flea Market, so all modifications I've made are pure journalism. All constructive feedback gratefully received, particularly if you happen to be Norwegian!

"...a real Norwegian Viking would pronounce it 'Ouse'."
Is that 'Ouse' as in 'house' or as in 'ooze'?
Apart from that a good entry, both informative and interesting.

I have to say, I have no idea. In my head, it's something like 'erss' at the moment - but hopefully a Norwegian might pop by and tell us.
I hoped I'd covered all sides of the debate by including all the various options...

Don't worry, it's not that important. You could try asking at the Scandinavian Researchers Club if you really want. A614567
"In 1516, Duke Wilhelm of Bavaria established a law admitting only:
- Malted barley
- Hops yeast
- Water
to be used as ingredients in the production of beer."
This could be made into an unordered list, using the tag.

Looks good to me. One thing, - . It still occupies its original site, in the same place in central Drammen - bit of tortology here, orginal site in central Drammen is enough.
I thought it was pronounced like horse, without the H.

Pronounciation: Horse without the H sounds about right (for British English at least - don't pronounce the R! ) Or Boss without the B if you make the O long.
M (Norwegian, but no beer expert - in fact I've never tasted any Aass beer!)

Ah! Only messing about with the Skol thing... do you know of the weak watery lager we have here in Britain that's called Skol? There was a classic advert featuring cartoon Vikings singing a drinking song that went "Skol, skol, skol, skol..." - and then one bloke was asked why he wasn't singing along, and claimed to have forgotten the words.
I suppose you had to be there

The old vikings might very well have pronounced it ouse like in house. I'm no linguist, but they did use lots of diphtongs. In some parts of Norway they still do, I just love those dialects.
Oh, and the rest of the entry looks good too.

Oh, another couple of things. The entry says "150 work there today", I don't know if this is correct, or when it was correct, but it's bound to be incorrect sooner or later.
"Aass" is one old spelling of the Norwegian word for hill. Not uncommon as name for farms of a particular age, and not uncommon as a last name.
Out of 4.5 million Norwegian 529 have the last name Aass, 243 are called Ås (modern spelling), 5966 are called Aas (my maternal grandmother's maiden name), 4405 bear the name Aasen (The hill, -en is one of the norwegian definite suffixes), and 687 call themselves Åsen.
In comparison I share my last name with only 24 other Norwegians.

Great entry!
The Guide deserves an entry on Aass - and I loved yours!
I'd love a cold Aass Pilsner now - but as Im not at home in Drammen at the moment its not to easy to find... I'll have to check if they sell it in this part of Norway
