The year of the Defenestration (sp?) of Prague. The imediate cause of the Thirty Years War. There had been a long standing tradition at the time to throw public officials that had displease the populace out of windows. It so happened one day that a group of Protestants grabbed a Catholic offial and hucked him out of a window. The Catholics then said it was only by the grace of God that the man lived. The Protestants retorted that he lived because he fellinto a pile of manure.
