Bluebottle

We've now got a smiley - cat 16-week old kitten from a home where they just discovered that they were allergic to cats. My son named him 'Oliver' and he's very cuddly. After spending the first few hours after we got him nervously hiding behind the sofa, he now seems very happy as long as he's with someone. He's eating well and enjoys playing and being very cuddly so all the signs are good, though he doesn't like being on his own at all.

>>eating well and enjoys playing and being very cuddly<< and that sounds like a perfect cat to me!

As for not liking being alone, I suggest some toys for him to play with until the humans come home! smiley - catsmiley - cuddle

I should really say he's white underneath and grey tabby on top. Do you think smiley - thepost would publish a cat picture? smiley - winkeye

Florida Sailor All is well with the world

Sounds like a cute kitten and I love his namesmiley - biggrin

Several years ago my wife and I flew into Miami's International Terminal from one of the Islands (I think it was Grand Cayman). At the same time a British Airways 757 was also unloading its passengers. One family had two very cute little boys, probably about 8 and 10 years old. The one said to his little brother 'Look Oliver (pronounced Oy lay VER - you probably need to read that with an American accentsmiley - smiley) There is the lorry with the petrol, and here comes the trolley for our grips'

I was tempted to tell him that our language was quite different, but I decided to let him find out for himself.

Although Oliver is a fairly common name here, I had never heard the British pronunciation of it before.

We pronounce his name the same way as Lionel Bart in smiley - musicalnote Oliver! smiley - musicalnote, rather than the way Sir Laurence Olivier pronounces his surname. smiley - winkeye

(The smiley - cat entry for smiley - thepost is one where I wondered 'how short can something be before it is too short for smiley - thepost?'* I could have easily summarised it in a dozen words so it's fair to say there's a degree of padding.)

* Each picture, obviously, counts as a thousand words.

Indoors to begin with, and then we'll see how his personality develops.

I second that opinion, Bob. smiley - smiley Our kitties will always be happy indoor kitties, and we will have birdies and chipmunks and bunnies and even that weird little shrew running around outside. smiley - winkeye

The farm cats chase the wildlife away (except the deer and bears), but then they keep the farm free of things that get into the chicken feed - except for the hated possums. Mrs Hoggett takes care of them with a .22. smiley - laugh She has a particular dislike for possums that I do not share.
