I've recorded a dub version of Misirlou, famous to most from Dick Dale & The Del-Tones' version on Pulp Fiction.

Everything bar the drum samples is me - I did my best to stop it sounding like it came from a cheap sequencer, but nevertheless it did.

Ahhh...a genre worth exploring. Basically, 1920s Greek Urban Blues, out of Athens, Thessalonika, Constantinople and Smyrna. One of my favourites is 'Mia Nichta Sto Pasalamini' by Vassilis Tsitsanes, which sounds like Robert Johnson playing the theme from Bagpuss (
). Then there's Rosa Askenazi, who sang in Ladino, the Sephardic Jewish language thyat was originally a dialect of Spanish.

Weird. Thanks for the tip Ed. I googled "Mia Nichta Sto Pasalamini" and got something called Flaming Pie, and that exact same comparison... leading me to suspect you are that flaming pie, AICMFP. Apparently it's spelt Pasalimani.
