I believe I saw a skinhead in the town centre this evening. No mistaking the grade-0 noggin, tartan-lined black bomber jacket, bleached drainpipe jeans turned up over pristine 16-hole Docs; braces flapping in the breeze.
I realise these things don't go away, it's incredibly provincial of me but I haven't seen anyone got up like that for ten years at least. The local contingent pretty much faded out after the yardies showed up. The closest I get to a BNP rally these days is watching the French Open. Okay, maybe there's a fancy dress party somewhere and he wants to stir things up. Prince Harry after all went to one dressed as a Nazi (the apple never falling far from the tree). But this was such a bizarre sight to see, not least because he was fifteen if he was a day, and with his mum.

I know exactly what this is. Yesterday he was homophobic. Today he woke up and realised he's homosexual.

If it is just a phase, it's a pretty severe one. Why can't he dye his hair black and take drugs like any normal kid?

It could have been a Red Skin...one of those who, like Seething Wells (whatever happened to him?), stayed close to their multicultural roots.

A few years ago, it was all the rage for young teenagers to dress up like gangsta rappers. I tell ya, you haven't lived until you've seen a thirteen year old boy with his pants down around his hips and a sports jersey, with heavy gold chains and his hat turned to the side. He even had the gang sign going on. What a doofus.

Welcome to Ipswich 2008!
This guy was fifteen, if he was trying to resurrect the roots of skinhead culture he was taking a big risk.
