Went out to get chips and beer earlier on today before off round a mates for the evening. Got beer. Got chips. Got on bike, started off - some pillock pulled straight into the road in front of me from the pub carpark next ot the chippy. One of those 'do I drop it or do I hit him' moments so I dropped the bike. Very greasy road. Nothing bad, clocks on the bike are smashed (although still functional) left a few gouges inthe road and got some road rash on my right knee and right shoulder hurts rather a lot. Nowt broken or owt. Standard response from said pillock 'sorry mate, didn't see ya' well try bleedin looking next time!
Although his expression as I got up and he realised he'd offed a 6'3" biker was amusing (no way for him to know I'm only 12stone under all the padding!). Fair play to him though he did stop and help me pick the bike up and hung around.
Still should have looked though. I was only doing about 10/15mph when I dropped it. Engine bars are good though, my right leg was trapped under the bike (I highsided it) and without them it might have been a tad more serious.
Ah well, excitement, adventure and stuff Guess I get to have the fun of trying to find a set of clocks for me bike now- finding a tyre was hard enough!
Right shoulder is causing problems with beer intake, not good!

Why are you and VC such targets?
You are both big enough to be visible!
Yet, VV only ever had her own accidents, usually losing her balance

People just don't see bikes. They forget to even check.
Mind I hate it it when a motorcyclist blind sides me by travelling up the center of the road behind me but just out of the angle of vision of wing mirror and my rear view mirror. The first I know they are there is when they overtake.Heart attack time.
I bet you are stiff tomorrow Iccy.Might be as well to have a good soak in a hot bath.

The noise they often make helps - you can hear them but not see them! Also the way some of them exceed the speed limit & overtake on the inside...
Hope the beer & chips survived OK Iccy - you'll just have to become an ambidextrous drinker!

crash bars front only, and I can at least now point to the couges in the road and say 'theyre mine!'
Yeah, there's a lot of pillocks on bikes too, it ain't all one sided, but this guy didn't even look and sjust pulled into the middle of the road.
Just running a nice hot bath now
beer and chips did survive and helped me through the evening
Think I must have fallen funny as shoulder is ok except when I try to move my arm away from my body. Possibly overextended the tendons or tore the muscle or something.
Ho hum, all good fun!

Not in my old banger I won't.

reminds me of our old definition of the safest motorbike in the world - a knackered 2-stroke with a dodgy exhaust
1) You can hear it
2) you can see the plumes of smoke
3) you cansmell the 2stroke oil

poo.
apparently car probs is the gearbox and not the clutch.
Ex vat, ex labour a new gearbox is 3/4 the what the car is worth. Hmm, no point there then.
Just trying to find a recon one on t'internet.
but, really, gearbox broke after 70k? Never heard of that on something as reliable as a nissan. Nor had nissan blokey. Very odd.

Just googling for a recon gearbox - but as ever all the sites are behind sign up pages - *rant* bloody marketing droids getting in the way again. If I can;t see what you have for sale I ain;t giving you my personal details and I sure as hell ain't buyiing from you if you try to use that sort of blackmail (give us your details or you can't see what we have for sale) on me.

My car's gearbox - which old, but had some component I'd never heard of broken off inside it. apparently - cost me £2K just before Christmas.

ouch!
That's what I was looking at for a new one but nice mr.garage man has found one second hand, with 23k on it, that'll cost me under £1000 fitted and sorted. 3month warrenty on it (money back) from the autoparts place they get them from but I'm looking at changing it round then anyway. Plus my car usage is going to drop off significantly in the next couple of weeks as I change jobs and start using the train again.
