Randy Moss back to Minnesota

Post 1

Ku'Reshtin (Bring the beat back!)

So, the Patriots traded Moss back to the Vikings for a third rounder.

It's totally something that the Pats would do since Moss started complaining earlier in the season, and they've got rid of players voicing their displeasure before.

What do you guys think about the trade?
What about the Favre/Moss connection?
Key to success?
Who got the better of the deal?

Wow!

If you look at it from the perspective that the Vikings got Moss for a 5th rounder, had him for one of the best seasons in NFL history plus a couple more and now they're getting a 3rd rounder for him - I'd say it's excellent.

Moss probably only has 2-3 seasons left in him at best. He caught no passes against the Dolphins. Once Favre leaves the Vikings I see his performance plummeting through discontent due to having no decent QB throwing to him.

The Patriots just went down the Moneyball route, like they did with Richard Seymour and extracted pretty much the maximum performance (2007-09) / draft pick compensation (upgraded a 3rd to a 5th) that you could expect to do with an ageing player.

Yes, he'll probably be good for a couple more years but he'll want to be paid heftily and at the end there is no draft pick compensation for him retiring.

For the Vikings they're giving up a lot based on wanting success now ... reminders of the Herschel Walker trade although not quite so expensive! If it brings them a Super Bowl then it's a good trade.
