A Conversation for Routines Before You Leave The House

Routine Defficiency

It depends on where I'm going, which depends on what day it is.

On days that I work I hit the snooze bar for about 20-45 minutes before deciding I need to get up (depending on how prepared I am to leave before I go to bed the night before). I usually try to have my work bag ready to go the night before because what I need to take to work varies, and I think more clearly at 8:30 at night than I do at 4:30 in the morning smiley - winkeye This way I don't forget anything that might turn out to be vitally important. So essentially my morning routine is to get up, get dressed (no, I don't lay my clothes out the night before), brush hair, brush teeth, take meds and go. The only three things I would return for after leaving the house are my lunch if I've made one (because it would spoil before I got back home, and I'd be hungry without it), my ID badge because without it I can't get into work, and my bank card only if I have to stop on the way to work (for gas) or if I'll have to buy my lunch.

On days that I don't work but have to get my son to school I only hit the snooze bar for about 20 minutes (which is great because he hasn't figured out the function of his snooze button yet and is already up and dressed by the time I roll out of bed smiley - winkeye). I get dressed, brush hair, then fix breakfast. While my son is eating his breakfast I make his lunch, go through the paperwork in his folder, sign on the appropriate lines, initial the right boxes, put the folder and lunchbox in his backpack, and remind him to brush his teeth. Then we get ready to walk down to the bus stop and I wait for the bus with him.

Any other time I'm leaving the house my only 'routine' is to make sure my phone and bank card are in my purse, my car keys are in my jacket pocket, and my pager is in my trouser pocket, and I've been known to leave any of those items singularly or in combination behind, proving that I don't conform well to routines.
