Kids these days are great.
It's also great to have opportunities like this to hold normal, adult conversations with them. So they don't grow up thinking "all Mum ever does is nag me". (This is more a reminder to myself than a comment to you - proud mother of Alex!)

That's true TC, down here a lot of kids seem to join various Military Cadet Corps, being a military town, but there's loads of them on parade at various function
