Chemical Tools - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy
Created | Updated Feb 28, 2006
Introduction
NMR spectroscopy has become one of the most versatile and important tools for the modern chemist. It is virtually the only spectroscopic technique that allows absolute strutcural characterisation of a molecule and allows detailed understanding of it's solution dynamics and reactivity to be studied. The spin-off of this technology is however much more familiar to millions of the general public in the form of the Magnetic Resonace Imager (MRI) used in hospitals world wide.
