A Conversation for The Great Vowel Shift

New Great Vowel Shift

I've been picking up on a subtle change that's creeping into received pronounciation. Estuary English is now predominant, with the long 'i' becoming the dipththong 'oy' as in 'nice/noyce' but here is another one and I don't know where it's going to end (haven't detected any shift of other vowels to make room for it).
The long 'o' ('oo' as in 'book') seems to be changing into a sound between a short 'i' and a long 'e' ('ee'), as in 'cooking' becoming 'cicking/ceeking'. There's one presenter on BBC's 'Coast', Alice Roberts, who seems to be the leader of this new movement, but even Prince Harry (besides his references to the 'noyce goyz' he left behind in Afghanistan - no I don't think he speaks Yiddish) uses the word 'ti' (or is it 'tee') when he means 'too'. Watch this space.smiley - erm
