Why I think Douglas Adams chose the number 42 (there is no reasearch or scientific reasoning behind this though) It is a nice, round, innocent looking number.
7x6, or 2x21 It seems unsuspecting, and usefull. It sound important and very official (with the right voice). It is just the right number!
